Mag Instrument, Inc. was started in 1955 by the president and founder of the company, Anthony (Tony) Maglica. Mag was first housed in a small garage with only one employee, Mr. Maglica. Today, in contrast, the company’s operations are spread over 11 different buildings totaling some 700,000 square feet.

Mr. Maglica utilizes a hands-on leadership style with a core philosophy — consistent and superior quality of Mag products, outstanding customer service, integrity, honesty, innovative production and business processes, fair treatment, respect, and equal opportunity for all Mag employees.

The success of Mr. Maglica’s philosophy is evident by the recognition and awards Mag has received. Mag products were named “one of the 99 products America makes best” by Money and Fortune magazines. Among other accolades, Mr. Maglica was named Entrepreneur of the Year for the Southern California Inland Empire.

Mag’s quality has not only been recognized in America, but Mag also has been the recipient of international design awards in Japan and Germany. This international recognition has made Mag products known worldwide, and Mag’s international business has grown steadily over the past several years.

Mag is proud that its portable lighting products are designed in the U.S.A. and produced by American workers. By continually implementing innovative production and business processes, Mag has controlled costs to offer world-competitive pricing despite competition from low-wage countries. Mag has stubbornly resisted the temptation to “outsource” its flashlight manufacturing outside the U.S.A.
